History[]

Bet had another sister, Mary Ann, three years younger than her, whom she loved dearly. When Bet was eleven and they were walking to school one day, Mary Ann fell in the canal and drowned. After being ostracized due to the rumor that she pushed her in, she tried to be good, which didn't stop unfortunate things from happening. This has led to her becoming a little unhinged, hot-tempered and violent.

Throughout Pennyworth Series[]

Working for the Raven Society[]

While working for the Raven Society in Pilot, Bet was tasked with finding and capturing Thomas Wayne, who had discovered a criminal conspiracy relating to the society. Bet took advantage of Alfred Pennyworth's feelings with Esme Winikus, taking the latter hostage and offering a trade in return for Wayne. Unbeknownst to Esme, Bet took a liking to Esme, which she described to her sister Peggy in Martha Kane (Episode).

Pennyworth was able to rescue Esme and keep Wayne safe, leading to Bet's arrest and death sentencing in The Landlord's Daughter. Fearing her death, Bet manipulated her guard George the Beefeater into spending time with her until, at one point, he raped her. She was, however, able to collect his semen and use it as blackmail for him to send a letter to her sister, who used her criminal assets to save Bet, unbeknownst to the public, and a letter to Esme, confessing her growing infatuation for her.

The New Society[]

Once free and living with her sister, Bet found James Harwood deformed and living on the street on one of their trips to London. She was able to make her sister take him home with them, back to Mr Spicer and Mrs Spicer.

When Harwood returned to leadership of the Raven Society, he worked closely with Bet and Peggy, who acted as his closest advisors. They were present with him during the meeting with the No Name League held at Crossroads of Ancient Ley Lines to talk peace, but felt that the Society did not need their help. She was also one of the key players in Harwood's plan to blackmail the government kidnapping The Queen along with Peggy. She held The Queen hostage until Harwood's demands were met, but was eventually forced to free her when Alfred Pennyworth and his team surrounded them. She was later locked up again. This time with Peggy, Harwood and Frances Gaunt in the Tower of London.

Raven Union[]

In The Heavy Crown, Bet Sykes was made a captain working at a Raven Union detention center, her task to get the alleged subversives to name people they know to be members of subversive organizations. During her interrogation of such 'subversives', she came across a difficult case, Katie Browning, an art student who, in response to Bet's questioning, called her a subversive. The two had a tense exchange in which Katie started probing Bet about her personal life, asking her why she was here. Bet left her to have a think. Later, having successfully interrogated everyone else, Bet came back to interrogate Katie. However, Katie still wouldn't cooperate, and instead pointed out that Bet was an unhappy woman and that she forgave her, which led to her being slapped. When Major Sutcliffe got involved and Katie refused to cooperate, he demanded she take her clothes off, intending to rape her into confessing while asking Bet to put the kettle on. Bet, however, beat him to death in the head with the kettle, helping Katie escape from the facility.

In The Burning Bridge, after Bet tries in vain to get a hold of Lord Harwood and fails to do so, only leaving a message with Miss Dixon. She eventually tries to call her sister Peggy. However the operator tells her that London is under siege at the moment and thus the call cannot be put through at this time.
