Margaret "Peggy" Sykes is the matriarch of the Syke family and one of Lancashire's most successful Dominatrixes. She is the sister of Bet Sykes.

Rescuing Bet[]

Following Bet Sykes' involvement with the Raven Society and her death sentencing, Peggy receives a goodbye letter from her sister who was in the Tower of London. The letter prompts Peggy to intervene in the execution, rescuing and replacing Bet, unbeknownst to the executioner or the public in The Landlord's Daughter.

In Martha Kane (Episode), Peggy mocks Bet's fascination with Esme Winikus, whom Bet believes she has a relationship with. Peggy laughs at the idea of the two rekindling, promising Bet that the two are to go home together and stay out of trouble. Going to the house where Mr Spicer and Mrs Spicer are living and wait for their return.

Working with the Society[]

When Lord Harwood is rescued by Bet and in Shirley Bassey when the sisters were driving back. As Bet and Mr and Mrs Spicer rehabilitated him and helped Harwood remember who he was. Till Julie Christie as she and Harwood prepare to leave for a meeting with Frances Gaunt, leaving Bet behind much to her dismay.

Harwood is reinstated as leader of the Raven Society, Peggy becomes a close advisor to him, offering her criminal experience and advice to better his chances at achieving his goal. She works closely to conceal Harwood's return and offers him help regaining his ability to walk following a prosthetic leg and a new nose.

She is with Harwood when he meets with Thomas Wayne and Martha Kane to sign peace negotiations between the Society and No Name League at the Crossroads of Ancient Ley Lines, but the efforts are eventually foiled by Alfred Pennyworth. She furthers Harwood's agenda when she and Bet kidnap The Queen and hold her hostage as a blackmail. However their efforts are further foiled by Alfred and she is arrested for her involvement in Marianne Faithfull. Along with Bet, and Frances Gaunt and Lord Harwood in the Tower of London.


In The Burning Bridge, after Bet tries in vain to get a hold of Lord Harwood and fails to do so, she eventually tries to call her sister. However the operator tells her that London is under siege at the moment and thus the call cannot be put through at this time. After an incident with the metal teapot Bet kills her superior, when working at Raven Union detention center.

Store in London[]

Having a store in London called Sykes Pain Supplies. It is a sex toys and books kind of store.

Not at the address that Bet previously had. The Hunted Fox Finds a clue in a phone booth, Bet Sykes with Katie Browning found her store.

Recounted by Peggy, Katie learns of not just Bet’s trauma but also some of the horrific things she’s done. Including about the Sykes sister's 3rd sister Mary "May" Ann Sykes. How May is dead.

The perve whom Bet got to know and then used when he was her jailor, while imprisoned in the Tower of London came into her shop. Peg was helping George The Beefeater with his shopping, she needed her sister to get the phone, but as she walks out, he recognized her. The sister had to decide what to do with him. Not killing for Katie, Peg and Bet made him part of the window display.

Lord Harwood was put under house arrest at his estate. Peggy got a phone call from Miss Dixon informing them. The Sykes sister did come to help. Bet Sykes got to see his lordship one last time. Peggy try to hurry them, they could not save him.

Most could not attend the funeral because it was held in London. She and her sister pay their respects. Hoping to get revenge on Salt. Doing so, they abduct Vikki Dufrench. It is Katie who talks Bet out of murder. A better plan is put into place.

To use her to get into HQ and save Dr. Frances Gaunt.

Peggy drives, and Bet was in back with a blade to kill Vikki if she said anything. They got 3 passes. Bet and Peggy head to the prison wing. Killing the woman guard and then find the right cell, give Frances a kerchief to wear out of her cell. Also deliver Lord James Harwood last message, but arguing over the wording. Convinces her to escape with them and their hostage. However, before they can leave, the presence of several Raven Union soldiers forces them to hide in another room. Alfred, Thomas, Lucius and Dave Boy are locked in cells feel as if they have failed, and that no one will come and save them. Unexpectedly, the Sykes sisters with Frances Gaunt and Vikki Dufrench came into the room. Bet recognizes Alfred fondly and hands Thomas the keys. When Gaunt learns that they are on a mission to steal the “Project Stormcloud”, she insists that they help, and they all end up on the same side temporarily.

The 4 women then went up to the penthouse to finish their revenge. Salt came, he almost tricked Bet into pushing the red button and unleashing stormcloud.

When General Nelson Thursday stormed in and they were saved, and Mrs. Gaunt took the kerchief off her hair and took back her position in the Ravens.

Years later[]

It is 5 years later by the start of Well To Do. When Bet was trying to think of a baby sitting, Peggy is mentioned. Bet answers that Peggy is 100 miles away London.

In Hedgehunter a note is left with baby Julie on the floor of a bus. Leaving a note saying the address for Peggy Sykes. To deliver Julie at 13 George Street.

At night in Rag Trade Daveboy and Sally were laying intimately, having rekindled their romance. Suddenly they realized that someone else was here. Sitting there was a shadows Peggy Sykes with baby Julie. Coming there looking for her sister. Asking Daveboy if he has seen her. Wondering why her sister sent her a baby, Peggy plans to return baby Julie.

Getting some rest on the couch upstairs in Pennyworth Security office in Highland Wedding. At last Bet was back. Bet was playing with baby Julie. Peggy states that everyone thought that Bet was dead, but she knew her sister was alright. She knew she would be back, and not leave her with a baby. Bet did have to admit that leaving Peggy with the baby was what she would do. Now was glad that she didn't.

Peggy next used a little reverse psychology on Bet. Stating that she would not ask. Bet answers that she would not believe her. Also that she did kill John Salt Because she said she would, and now she did. Peggy seemed to not be sure, but was glad Bet got it out of her system. Bet starts to explain how much she has been through, Peggy explains, Bet is a magnet for trouble. That won't change. Bet explains, she has changed. Level 7 did things to her.

Peggy and Bet did join everyone downstairs at The Queen Anne's Revenge as many of the PWE were having fun and Kevin was singing. Next when Alfred came in, to announce, they should all get out of the city. Steal a bus. Also when Alfred proposed to Sandra Onslow and this time she does say yes.

Getting safely out of the city. Peggy was with Bet and baby Julie for Alfred and Sandra's wedding on the high. Able to see the large explosion the hit London.

Peggy Sykes is described as one of Lancashire's most successful Dominatrixes and a sensible matriarch of a manic family. She is fiercely loyal, resourceful but has a strict, rigorous moral code.[1]
